Student Teaching Placements
Student Teaching Placement #4: Gilbert Plains Collegiate, Gilbert Plains
At Gilbert Plains Collegiate I was given an opportunity to take over the responsibility of 4 classes for at least 5 weeks. I taught Grade 9 Math, Grade 10 Science, Grade 11 Biology and Grade 12 Calculus. I thoroughly enjoyed the staff and students in this school. I was able to practice my classroom management skills and use a wide variety of teaching strategies. Also being involved in emailing parents and parent teacher interviews allowed me a great opportunity to expand my teaching responsibilities. Overall I felt the placement was very successful and solidified my love and confidence for the career path I have chosen.

Student Teaching Placement #3: Lertlah School, Bangkok, Thailand
In May and June of 2012 I spent time teaching at Lertlah School in Bangkok Thailand. This was an very challenging but rewarding placement. I taught English to grade 1 students by teaching the Manitobain Grade 1 Math and Science Curriculum. The experience taught me how to teach and manage the younger aged students as my previous experiences had only been with high school students. I also learned a lot about teaching ESL students. Using simple, straight forward vocabulary, lots of visuals and being consistent are the key things that helped me navigate this placement successfully.

Student Teaching Placement #2: Landmark Collegiate
In Landmark I was given the opportunity to take over a Grade 11 Chemistry and Grade 12 Physics class. I also tutored a Grade 9 Transitional Math student and taught a few lessons in a Grade 12 Consumer class. During this placement I learned a lot about planning and executing units and assessment plans. I also learned a lot about adapting my teaching for individual students. In this school I felt very welcomed and enjoyed the community of learning that was generated among the staff here.

Student Teaching Placement #1: Carmen Collegiate
At the beginning of my placement at Carmen Collegiate I was nervous and very excited to finally spend time in front of the classroom. Ms. Massinon, my co-operating teacher, guided me in creating lesson plans that were engaging and practical I taught a few lessons in all of the following classes; Grade 9 Science, Grade 11 Biology, and Grade 12 Biology. I received a lot of positive feedback on my lessons and developed a sense of confidence in front of the classroom. By the time I left Carmen, my nerves had diminished and I was nothing but excited to carry on in my teaching career.
