Aims of Education
The aim of our education system is to provide free and equal public education to all members of our society. In doing this we ensure that every member of our society has the opportunity to contribute his or hers unique skills to help better our world.
Who I am As a Teacher
I am an essentialist because I believe that the curriculum is like the Bible of teaching. We must teach from this and only this.
Behaviorist love order and structure. They love to be well planned and make sure everyone in there class is acting appropriately. These things describe me completely when it comes to classroom management and set up. As a progressivist I love listening to my students and finding out what makes them tick. I use this information to instil interest in a subject they otherwise would not be interested in. |
What I believe it takes to be a great teacher
- Be passionate about all students and subjects you teach
- Make learning relevant and practical
- Get to know your students outside of the classroom through extra curricular or just being involved in the community
- Have a classroom management plan that revolves around respect for oneself, others and the school
- Always treat students and their parents with respect and dignity
- Create an open relationship with parents and students
- Teach to multiple intelligences
- Constantly and consistently use Differentiate Instruction in your classroom
- Have equity not necessarily equality in your classroom
- Be prepared
- Model what you believe to approproite behaviours both in the school and in your private life
- Have structure to your lessons that students are aware of
- Have consistent expectations
- Involve parents in their students learning, both good and bad.
