Math Education is Fundamental
Make learning fun!

What I believe Math Education should be:I believe everyone can learn math. Some may take longer but with patience and a variety of teaching methods everyone can be successful. The trick is getting the students motivated to learn math. to do this I:
- make learning relevant - use technology - use student centred learning approaches - focus on the understanding and not the calculations - use games to teach concepts - keep it challenging - multiple forms of mental math

Examples of my work in Math
For Middle years math class I created a powerpoint presentation to teach my fellow classmates how to play the product game. This is a great way for students to practice multiplication skills and problem solving.

I provided these notes for the students to follow along with as I taught them about Binomial and Uniform Distribution. If you read it you will notice it is full of interactive examples.
|
The day after I taught a lesson on Standard Deviation I got the students to do a check point to see if they remembered what they had learned the previous day.

When I was in Thailand I created a "Story" called Billy's bus trip. I read this story to the students and they had to practice filling in a ten frame with as animals got on the bus.
